Malta is an observer on the SKA Board. It is primarily working on developing software, control and management systems for the consortia. Malta is working on the SKA sub-elements AADC (Aperture Array Design and Construction), LFAA (Low Frequency Aperture Array), CSP (Central Signal Processing) and SDP (Science Data Processor). Malta has worked with the SKA since 2011 through the Institute of Space Science and Astronomy (ISSA), at the University of Malta.

University researchers are developing the entire monitoring and control systems for the LFAA and CSP. Malta is also working on the GPU-based imaging pipeline for the SDP.

Malta hi assocjata mal-SKA bhala osservatur fuq il-Bord tal-SKA. Ix-xoghol ewlieni jinvolvi l-izviluppar ta’ software ghall-kontroll u mmanigjar ta’ whud mill-elementi li jaghmlu parti mit-teleskopju, fejn kull wiehed minn dawn hu amministrat minn konsorzju differenti. Malta qed taghti sehem importanti f’dawn il-konsorjza tal-SKA: AADC (Aperture Array Design and Construction, LFAA (Low Frequency Aperture Array), CSP (Central Signal Processing) u SDP (Science Data Processor). Malta ilha tahdem mal-SKA mill-2011 bis-sahha tal-ISSA (l-Istitut ghax-Xjenzi Spazjali u l-Astronomija), fl-Universita ta’ Malta.

Ricerkaturi fl-Universita` qed jizviluppaw is-sistema kollha li tikkontrolla u timmanigja l-LFAA u s-CSP. Malta qieghda tahdem ukoll fuq sistema ‘high performance’ li tiggenera ritratti mit-teleskopju ghall-SDP.
